Back in February, bluegrass hero Del McCoury celebrated his 80th birthday at Nashville, TN’s Grand Ole Opry alongside his own Del McCoury Band with specials guests that included Marty Stuart, Sam Bush, Ricky Skaggs, The Travelin’ McCourys, and Vince Gill, to name a few.

The celebrations will now continue well into the end of the year with another guest-filled celebratory performance scheduled for Saturday, December 21st, at The Capitol Theatre in Port Chester, NY.

Announced on Monday, the celebratory show will feature performances from the Del McCoury Band along with Jerry Douglas, Leftover Salmon’s Drew Emmitt and Vince Herman, The Infamous Stringdusters’ Andy Falco, and more to be announced.

Although McCoury may be getting up there in numerical age, the Del McCoury Band continues to perform at major events including this summer’s High Sierra Music Festival and Aiken Bluegrass Festival. The band remains on tour with upcoming festival appearances scheduled throughout the latter half of summer and into the fall months.

Tickets for McCoury’s 80th birthday celebration go on sale this Friday, August 9th, at 12 p.m. EST here. For ticketing and a full list of Del McCoury’s upcoming tour dates, head to his website.
