Husband-and-wife duo Derek Trucks and Susan Tedeschi recently engaged in an interview on Q104.3‘s Out of the Box with Jonathan Clarke.

Tedeschi Trucks Band is currently promoting their latest studio album, SIGNS, which has experienced a dramatic change in meaning since its release in February. The band lost their forever keyboardist/flutist Kofi Burbridge on February 15th, the day that the album–which was dedicated to several of their mentors that have recently passed: Leon RussellCol. Bruce HamptonButch Trucks, and Gregg Allman–officially released.

Trucks recalls his time on the road with Kofi. He explains,

Twenty years on the road together (with the Derek Trucks Band and then Tedeschi Trucks Band). Kofi was just somebody that everybody loved. He was the best musician on stage — any stage he walked on, but he never made anyone feel that way. He was a sweet, sweet man.

He would go out before every show and go mingle with the audience or go to the parking lot. He was at home anywhere.

Tedeschi added her thoughts on Kofi. She shares,

Leonardo Di Vinci and Kofi had something in common, which was you sleep for 15 minute naps and you never really go to sleep. He would be up with our bus driver, while he was driving all night, talking to him, keeping him awake.
