The Disco Biscuits have confirmed that they will return to New York, NY’s PlayStation Theater for a four-night run to close out 2019.

This run of shows, set to take place on December 27th, 28th, 30th, and 31st, will bring The Disco Biscuits’ overall total number of performances at the Times Square venue to 40. They will also mark the final shows ever at PlayStation Theater, as the venue will close its doors at the end of the year.

As keyboardist Aron Magner notes in an announcement post,

We’ve got so much to tell you guys in the next couple of weeks, wanted to start with a classic. A New Year. A new beginning. A new life. Couldn’t think of a better way to look towards the future than by saying goodbye to the past. Our 40th show at a venue that, just like all of us, has changed so many times through the years. We’ve shared so many incredible memories as a community there, here’s to one last hurrah before the venue closes for good. The Biscuits are coming home! – Aron

As AEG Presents notes in a press release, “The decision to close the venue comes at the conclusion of the existing lease agreement for the space at 1515 Broadway. The Bowery Presents, AEG Presents’ regional partner, continues to operate and book its extensive New York City venue roster including Terminal 5, Brooklyn Steel, Music Hall of Williamsburg, Rough Trade NYC, and the recently re-opened Webster Hall (in partnership with BSE Global).

PlayStation Theater opened in September 2005 and has been a fixture in the New York City music scene for over a decade. The 2,100-capacity venue has welcomed more than 2.1 million fans through its doors, hosting over 1,500 shows with top artists including Ariana Grande, Fall Out Boy, Rihanna, Florida Georgia Line, plus special performances such as Jay-Z’s 10th Anniversary performance of his debut album Reasonable Doubt, Bon Jovi’s album launch of Have A Nice Day, among countless others.

The Disco Biscuits have been hinting at their New Year’s run announcement on their Instagram page over the last few days. After clearing all their previous posts, the band has gradually posted chunks of the New Years run poster to reveal the show’s poster and the aggregated caption, “We’re back! Back in the New York groove.

The slow rollout of the NYE run came on the heels of a cryptic but promising announcement from the band last week. As a note from guitarist John “The Barber” Gutwillig shared widely on social media stated,

To our dedicated fans,

For years now we’ve been working on our lives away from music. One thing we all realized during this time was how lucky we were to bring happiness to people by something we loved to do. Well we are seizing this moment…

Set break is over.

Gas tank’s refilled.

We are back.

Get ready, the best is yet to come.

As bassist Marc Brownstein told Live For Live Music about the note on behalf of the Disco Biscuits team, “When the band and fans are locked together by the free flow of energy, that’s the magic. We can’t wait to see this next chapter unfold.”

A seated pre-sale lottery for the New York City run will be open for entries tomorrow, August 21st, from 10 a.m.–5 p.m. ET here. Tickets on sale to the public Friday at 10 a.m. ET.
