The Disco Biscuits will take the infield diamond next week for their Take You Out To The Ball Game live stream. The jamtronica mainstays will perform at Citizens Bank Park, home of the Philadelphia Phillies, on Tuesday, June 23rd at 7:45 pm ET.
This announcement comes after the band wrapped up their You Got I, I Got You Virtual Tour 2020 at the end of May. The 10-week digital “tour” featured re-broadcasts of Disco Biscuits shows from 2001—2015.
The free concert will mark the first time the band has played together since a three-night run at Chicago’s Riviera Theatre on January 2nd–4th. The band was set to wrap up a 2019-2020 winter tour—their first full-fledged tour in years—with several shows in North Carolina and Maryland later that month, but the run was derailed by bassist Marc Brownstein‘s health issues. Following his appearances on Jam Cruise, Brownstein underwent emergency eye surgery for a detached retina. The band was forced to postpone the final four shows of the tour to a later date, back before that had become the norm. Then, as The Biscuits were about to kick off a spring and summer tour, dubbed Act 1, the COVID-19 pandemic hit just before the opening three-night run in the band’s home town of Philadelphia.
Now, the band is back playing together again—with a home field advantage. In addition to the use of the Major League infield, The Disco Biscuits will also have access to amenities from the ballpark and the Phillies, including Phillies jerseys for each member and use of the Phanavision and other iconic signage. The band will also receive an introduction from Phillies announcer Dan Baker to start the show.
Take You Out To The Ball Game will serve as a fundraiser for the PLUS1 For Black Lives fund, which spreads information and action by empowering Black communities and aims to keep people out of the criminal justice system. Citizens Bank Park and the Philadelphia Phillies are also sponsoring the fundraiser, along with Live Nation. Donations to PLUS1 For Black lives can be made here online or by texting DISCO to 50155 before, during, or after the show.
