Phish‘s annual three-night run at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park in Commerce City, CO is always the celebratory “cherry on top” of summer tour, and with that comes pre- and post-events surrounding the big finalé. This year, Denver’s Cervantes’ Other Side will be hosting a pre-party with DJ Williams’ Shots Fired on Thursday, August 30th, along with a proper Phish late-night on Friday, August 31st in the Ballroom with hometown jammers Cycles (their first headlining spot in the main room).

Since Karl Denson’s Tiny Universe member DJ Williams debuted his solo project, Shots Fired, the guitarist has kept busy assembling a rotating cast of musicians from the funk, jam, and livetronica scenes. Playing various clubs across the nation with a smorgasbord of talent, Williams consistently delivers highly memorable jam sessions. Per Live For Live Music’s B. Getz, in a recent interview with Williams, “With one platinum boot in Blaxploitation soundtracks, and the other Doc Martin rock ‘n’ roll sexy as Mama Said-era Lenny Kravitz, Shots Fired has developed some tangible momentum.”

For this particular Shots Fired session, DJ Williams will be joined by a heavy-hitting crew including Jeremy Salken (Big Gigantic), Eddie Roberts (New Mastersounds), Scott Flynn (Odesza), Dan Africano (John Brown’s Body), Todd Stoops (Electric Beethoven), AnDré Mali (Stevie Wonder), Nick Gerlach (Michal Menert), & Aaron Johnston (Brazilian Girls).

As DJ notes about the upcoming performance, “I think Cervantes is gonna have to get an estimate on a new roof after this Shots Fired crew is done with this show. Looking forward to showcasing some of Denver’s best musicians for a great night of music!” He might not be wrong. Purchase tickets here.

The psychedelic power-trio of Cycles has been providing Colorado and the rest of the nation with some seriously jam-heavy performances as of late, and their hard work is paying off. Infusing rock, jazz, funk, soul, and more, Patrick Harvey (guitar), Tucker McClung (bass), and Michael Wood (drums) drop a genre-bending bomb of a live show that leaves the masses mesmerized. Cycles has toured with several other next-gen jam bands like Pigeons Playing Ping Pong, lespecial, Kitchen Dwellers, Magic Beans, and Tweed, just to name a few, and continues to pick up fans by the numbers.

After releasing two EP’s in 2016, Cycles’ first full-length album, Vacation, witnessed a young, focused, and hungry band that’s ready to explode on the scene. They’re firing on all cylinders and primed to keep the party going late into the Denver night after Phish on August 31st.

There will be a “bus to show” option on Friday, leaving at 5 pm from Cervantes and returning to the venue after Phish. Tickets to the show are $12 in advance and $15 on the day of the show, and a bus + ticket package is $35. Purchase tickets here.
