Don Henley of The Eagles made an appearance on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert earlier this week to perform a song off his new solo album, titled “Too Much Pride.” Backed by an all-star band including Colbert bandleader Jon Batiste, Maurice “Mobetta” Brown, Snarky Puppy’s Cory Henry and more, Henley took the opportunity to take a not-so-subtle stab at Donald Trump. “You don’t have to be right, Donald, all the time,” he sang. “You can’t go on with all these axes to grind. So why don’t you lighten up and let it ride? Too much pride.”
“Now listen Mr. Trump,” he added. “Empires rise, and empires fall, you stick around here long enough you’ll see it all. Now it looks like it’s gone nationwide, too much pride.”
Catch Maurice “Mobetta” Brown kicking things off at the Jazz Brunch at Verboten during Brooklyn Comes Alive this Saturday, 9/26.
