Dopapod revisited the band’s second of two nights in Denver with the premiere of the band’s debut “Bad Guy” cover of Billie Eilish. The pro-shot footage directed by Ninja Video comes from the group’s May 14th show at Cervantes’ Masterpiece Ballroom.

Though an improvisationally-driven act covering a pop superstar seems a bit out of left field, nothing is off the table for Dopapod. The group has held a unique rendition of Britney Spears‘ “Toxic” in its arsenal for years, and the introduction of “Bad Guy” just shows D-pod is willing to get with the times.

While the instrumental take on the When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go? undoubtedly went over the heads of more than a few jam-loving attendees at Cervantes’, Dopapod knew exactly where to take it. With keyboardist Eli Winderman mimicking the vocals on keys—much the same way he does with “Toxic”—the cover sounds right out of the Dopapod songbook and could even be mistaken for an original under the proper circumstances. Though the texture of the tune isn’t much for the band to dive into, it provides an open terrain for some around-the-horn improvisation.

Watch Dopapod debut its cover of “Bad Guy” by Billie Eilish at Cervantes’ Masterpiece Ballroom in Denver on May 14th. The band is set to air the second installment of the Turtle Studio Sessions on June 24th before hitting the road for festival season with stops at The Peach Music FestivalThe Werk OutBirds Of A Feather, and Summer Camp Music Festival.
