Wu-Tang is for the children, and so is Dopapod. Band members Eli Winderman, Chuck Jones, and Neal “Fro” Evans proved as much during a visit to the elementary school where Chuck’s wife Alyson is a 3rd grade teacher earlier this week.

The trio performed for students and teachers at the school and taught them about their different instruments. At one point, they even invited a young guitarist on stage to play the part of Rob Compa (who was absent) during a cover of Black Sabbath‘s “Iron Man”. His peers chanted his name to show their support as he joined the band on stage.

“It’s always so rewarding to inspire the young ones and entertain the hard working teachers!” the band said in a social media post following the visit.

Video clips shared by the band show students listening attentively and moving along to the music as they sit criss-cross applesauce on the gymnasium floor. They seem particularly excited during a crowd participation segment, eagerly awaiting their chance to cheer every time Eli signals them with a raised hand. After the performance, the band stuck around to sign autographs during snack time.

Along with the clips from their elementary school visit, Dopapod shared winter tour dates that will carry the band throughout Colorado, the Northwest, and the West Coast until the end of March. The dates kick off in Boulder, CO on February 24th and conclude in Los Angeles on March 18th, with intervening stops in Telluride, Bozeman, Boise, Portland, Seattle, San Francisco, and more. Dopapod will play a one-off show at Nectar’s in Burlington, VT tonight, Wednesday, February 8th, under the name bOOb, a moniker the group first used to host birthday parties for Chuck, who said the show will be “definitely looser than a Dopapod show,” adding, “Sometimes we have magicians and serve punch and pie.”

“Come see us this Wednesday at Nectars, it’s basically a Dopapod show but we’re calling it Boob because we’re weird,” said the band.
