Earlier this month, Duane Betts celebrated the release of his solo debut Wild & Precious Life, and now the Allman Brothers Band kin is taking his songs across the country. Alongside his backing band Palmetto Motel, the son of Dickey Betts stopped through Soundcheck Studios in Pembroke, MA on Tuesday.
Wild & Precious Life marks Duane’s first release under his own name, a surprising anomaly considering the 45-year-old guitarist has had an active music career since before the turn of the century. Good things come to those who wait, and Duane waited for his punch with Wild & Precious Life. A career sideman who’s played with everyone from his dad’s band Great Southern all the way to indie-rockers Dawes, Duane introduces audiences to his own voice on the new album—though he does get some help from collaborators Derek Trucks, Marcus King, and Nicki Bluhm who all appear on the disc.
“It felt like the right time to make something that was entirely my own vision… It’s an album about who I am, where I come from, and what I believe in,” Betts said of the album.
