Yesterday U2 released a statement falsifying the recent reports that Eagles Of Death Metal would be returning to Paris for a concert with U2 at the Accorhotels Arena in Bercy last night. Well, to the audience’s surprise, EODM did, in fact, show up and perform.

Before 20,000 attendees, Bono introduced the band to the stage: “They were robbed of their stage three weeks ago, so we would like to offer them ours tonight.” First, they joined U2 for a triumphant cover of Patti Smith’s “People Have The Power”, then U2 offered the stage so that EODM could play their own song, “I Love You All The Time”.

The Eagles of Death Metal, who will be continuing their European tour in February, are currently launching a fundraising campaign for the victims of the attacks, and are spurring other bands to cover their song “I Love You All The Time” so that they can donate the publishing earnings. We’ve seen great tributes already from My Morning Jacket and Dean Ween.Â
