Over the weekend, Eaux Claires Festival returned to Eau Claire, Wisconsin, for its fourth edition. The two-day festival was curated by Justin Vernon of Bon Iver and Aaron Dessner on The National, and took an extremely unique approach to its lineup.

Rather than announcing the festival’s lineup ahead of time, Vernon and Dessner were tight-lipped about the performers, finally revealing the lineup on the day of the festival. While the festival’s organizers promised to expect a standout lineup, it certainly was a huge risk not announcing ahead of time.

On the start of the festival, Eaux Claires finally announced its truly highly anticipated lineup. Dessner took the stage with The National on Saturday night also teamed with Justin Vernon for a set under the moniker Big Red Machine. Other highlights included Chicago rapper Noname, Dirty Projectors, Sharon Van Etten, Kevin Morby, and Pussy Riot.
