Eddie Vedder Performs At President Obama’s Farewell Address [Watch]

Last night, many American citizens were teary-eyed as President Barack Obama addressed the nation for a Farewell address. Obama chose to hold his final address in Chicago, a city that would ultimately shape his political career for years to come.

Another person shaped by the city of Chicago was Eddie Vedder, as the Pearl Jam frontman has come to be a major representative of the Windy City. Vedder was on hand as the opening act of sorts – though he wasn’t on the live stream of the event, the Pearl Jam frontman led the Chicago Children’s Choir through a short set in honor of the occasion.

Vedder performed four songs in total, including his song “Rise” from the Into the Wild soundtrack, as well as covers of Patti Smith’s “People Have the Power”, Labi Siffre’s “Something Inside So Strong” and Neil Young’s classic, “Rockin’ in the Free World”.

Check out fan-shot video of the performance below.
