After announcing that drummer/vocalist Alex Bailey was in the hospital as the result of a car accident, Connecticut jam quartet Eggy played an acoustic show as a trio at Tree House Brewing Company in Charlton, MA on Saturday.

“A quick update for our show at Tree House Brewing Company,” the band wrote in a message shared on social media the day of the show. “Last night on his way home, Alex was victim to a head-on collision due to a distracted driver entering his lane. We are so happy he is home safe and on the mend, but it’s time for some much needed rest.”

The band continued, “As they say in show business, the show must go on. The three of us will continue as a trio and rock in Alex’s honor. We are so grateful he is okay and know he will be cheering us on from home,” adding, “Drive safe everyone. Don’t text while driving.”

With Alex resting at home, guitarist/vocalist Jake Brownstein, keyboardist/vocalist Dani Battat, and bassist/vocalist Mike Goodman played an intimate, stripped-down set at the packed Charlton brewery, with Brownstein swapping out his usual electric guitar for an acoustic. The band stopped the show at one point to record a video for Alex. The audience wished the drummer a speedy recovery with a heartfelt, “We love you, Alex!”

After the show, Eggy posted the video to social media along with a note thanking the fans for showing support for Alex and the band by making the most out of the situation.

“While Alex was greatly missed yesterday, we were grateful to share in such a special evening with everybody and send some love to him back home,” the band wrote. “Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for all of the well wishes and love you showed Alex yesterday. While he still has some healing to do, I know each comment, text, and phone call made a real difference. Thank you for lifting his spirits and ours.”
