The unique collaboration that is Reed Mathis & Electric Beethoven will be hitting the East coast in late January through mid-February, with a newly announced surprise tour. Keeping in the vein of their adaptations of Ludwig Van Beethoven’s symphonies, the series of “Resonance Field Tests” will breathe new life into these older compositions by transforming them into danceable improvisatory numbers.

Branded as CDM, or “Classical Dance Music,” Reed Mathis will join again with drummer Jay Lane (Primus / Ratdog / Golden Gate Wingmen), keyboardist Todd Stoops (RAQ / Rhythmatronix), and guitarist Clay Welch.

After setting sail on Jam Cruise, which kicks off latet this week, the band will jump right in on their tour, with the first date falling on January 26 at Jack Rabbits in Jacksonville, FL. Electric Beethoven will make their way up the East Coast for the tour during which they are set to meet up with friends along the way. Machine Funk will be present during their show at the Rabbit Hole in Charlotte, NC, and Brock Butler of Perpetual Groove will join them for their dates in Raleigh, NC and in Richmond, VA. Eventually, Electric Beethoven will hit the Capitol Theater in Port Chester, NY, joined by Pink Talking Fish Stops Making Sense (more info here). During this special night, the Meters’ Leo Nocentelli, the Turkuaz horns, Jen Durkin, and others will collaborate with Electric Beethoven for an exploratory night of sonic bliss.

To round out the tour, one of their final dates will be the Brooklyn Bowl in NYC on February 17th. For an added visual element, the original 1960s Liquid Light Lab will provide their legendary show for the performance.
