When music fan Brendan Kaplan had trouble convincing his parents to let him go to Electric Forest, he did what any enterprising young American priming himself for middle management would do: he made a Power Point. Fortunately for the teenage music lover, the folks behind the beloved Michigan festival got word of his plan and gave it just the boost it needed to accomplish the mission.

After Kaplan tweeted his original Power Point at Electric Forest—and his mother tweeted out her reservations—the festival responded with an improved version of the presentation. On top of that, the organizers offered him a free GA ticket in the event that his parents came around to the idea.

In addition to its professional design, the updated presentation also included information on Electric Forest’s lineup, the layout of the festival grounds, and a number of convincing reasons why Kaplan should attend (for instance, he has a free ticket). All of these points no doubt contributed to the success of the operation, which eventually earned the approval of the parents in question.

Congratulations, Brendan Kaplan! You may be college bound this fall, but you’ll be Electric Forest bound this summer. We hope you enjoy four days of music from The String Cheese Incident, Bassnectar, and many more.
