Elton John has confirmed the final leg of his massive Farewell Yellow Brick Road trek, billed as his last-ever tour dates in Europe and North America, set to take place in 2022.

“Hello, all you wonderful fans out there. I’m coming to you today with an announcement I’ve been working towards for, well, all my life: The shows that I announce today will be my final tour dates ever in North America and Europe,” Sir Elton decreed in an announcement video. “I’m going to go out in the biggest possible way, performing at my very best, with the most spectacular production I’ve ever had, playing in places that have meant so much to me throughout my career.”

The Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour was initially announced in 2018 and was always intended to feature more than 300 shows continuing through at least 2021. After the years-long tour is over, the Rocket Man will land for good. As John explained when the tour was first announced, “I’m not going to say I’m retiring and then do a world tour. I’m not Cher.”

The final North American leg of the Elton John’s Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour was initially slated to take place in 2020 before the pandemic prompted the famed singer/pianist to push those dates to 2021. The rescheduled dates will now run from January through April of 2022.

The new announcement tacks an extra run of stadium shows on top of the rescheduled 2020 dates including shows in major markets around the United States as well as a stop in Vancouver. The tour will wrap up with a two-night stand at Los Angeles, CA’s Dodger Stadium on November 19th and 20th, 2022.

“Whether it’s next summer in Frankfurt or at the legendary Dodger Stadium for the grand finale in the United States, I can’t wait to see you all on the road one last time,” he continued. “This has been an incredible tour so far, full of the most amazing highs, and I look forward to making more wonderful memories with you at these final shows. To all my friends down under: We’ll be seeing you, too. Thank you and I look forward to seeing you in your town.”
