Live for Live Music and Team Equifunk are proud to present to you Equifunk V, which will take place from August 17th-19th. Equifunk has been called the “All Inclusive Anti-Festival“, and deservedly so. Think New Orleans Mardi Gras, meets the nostalia of summer camp, meets salute your shorts, meets an all inclusive summer vacation getaway with your best and soon-to-be best friends.
The memories you make at Equifunk will last a lifetime! What you can come to expect at most music festivals around the country is exactly what Equifunk doesn’t want you to deal with: $9 beers, $5 waters, $6 slices of pizza, it is just getting to be too expensive to afford anymore. We want to give you great music, at a beautiful location, and not make you have to keep dipping into your pockets every single time you want a beer or something to eat.

All Inclusive

Leave your wallet in the car once you step foot onto camp Equifunk. Since Equifunk is held at an actual summer camp, there is so much to look forward to and take advantage of. We have basketball courts, baseball fields, huge fields to throw your Frisbee around, a beautiful lake with many water related activities, two pools with stages and bands playing the pool parties, and so much more. Get down on camp activities with some of your favorite bands! Imagine playing softball/kickball while a world renowned band plays in the field, mardi gras parades by New Orleans Funk Allstars, or hearing the lineup to your pick up basketball game being announced by a group of hilarious musicians.

Activities

From sponsered color wars, arts and crafts activities, musical yoga classes, no matter where you turn, you’ll have something to do in a way you’ve never before. Expect a bunch of camp-style activities to participate in over the course of the weekend. They are going all out to celebrate the fifth anniversary of Equifunk. Taking place at the majestic 75-acre Camp Equinunk, located in the Pocono Mountains (just over the NY border), one can either go the old-fashioned way and camp out in their tents under the stars, or take advantage of the bunking option. Yes, you and your friends can actually have your own bunk (but we would get on it fast, as this option is sure to sell out quickly as space is limited). Included in the price is admission to the festival, your bunking/camping pass, ALL THE BEER you can drink, dinner Friday, all three meals on Saturday, and breakfast on Sunday. And the price for the tickets range from $175-$299, depending on whether or you camp or bunk.

For the ultimate experience at Camp Equifunk, you’ll want to take advantage of our state of the art cabins, complete with 12 beds, electricity, private bathrooms and hot showers. Have a group of friends you want to bunk with? Just let us know who and lock in the ultimate summer weekend getaway! For those looking for the ultimate value play, you can’t beat this one. Grab a tent, and enjoy all the same access as premium ticket holders, with your tents set up a minute from the stage! The best $175 you can spend all summer. Act now, tickets at this tier will not last long. We suggest you get on your tickets now, while Tier 2 Pricing and Bunks are still available, because these tickets WILL SELL OUT SOON. But for now, here is a little rundown on the bands we have so far. Expect some big announcements for our late-night acts in the coming weeks. Equifunk Vis going to be an unforgettable experience. Hope to see you there!

GALACTIC

These guys are straight-up New Orleans, and we are so happy that they are headlining our Saturday night extravaganza. The NOLA festival circuit veterans are bringing their unique brand of funk, jazz, rock, hip-hop music to Equifunk for the first time. It is sure to be an incredible experience to see such a world-class band like Galactic play in such an intimate setting in the mountains. Galactic is a collaborative band with a unique format. It’s a stable quintet that plays together with high musicianship. They’ve been together so long they’re telepathic, never missing a beat, and always taking their music to the next level. If you listen to CARNIVALE ELECTRICOS together with the two previous studio albums (YA-KA-MAY and FROM THE CORNER TO THE BLOCK), you’ll hear the most complete cross-section of what’s happening in contemporary New Orleans anywhere – all of it tight and radio-ready.

DUMPSTAPHUNK

Formed in 2003, Dumpstaphunk was initially assembled by keyboardist Ivan Neville on a whim, to perform a solo slot at the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival. Ivan tastefully selected the unique double-bass attack of both Nick Daniels and Tony Hall on bass, enlisted his own bloodlines for the scorching guitar rhythms of cousin, Ian Neville, and most recently, added the newest member to the group, heavy-hitting female protégé Nikki Glaspie on drums, replacing original powerhouse Raymond Weber. The project has since grown from a chance side-project into what is now widely considered to be one of New Orleans’ most prestigious modern funk ensembles. An offspring with a direct lineage to their fathers in The Meters and The Neville Brothers, Dumpstaphunk is a recipe for creating a new standard for an entire genre.

ORGONE

Pronounced with a long second “O,” the Los Angeles band Orgone is dedicated to heavy, raw, adrenaline-fueled funk and sweat-dripping soul. Orgone has become a staple on the festival circuit while gaining a reputation among fellow artists as one of the baddest go-to backing bands on the planet. Armed with a new album and a take-no-prisoners live show, Orgone is bringing organic soul and orgasmic music to a stage near you, continuing their rise on everyone’s “Favorite Band” list. Experience the band that continues to evolve and redefine funk and make a cosmic connection with Orgone in 2012.

RAC (Remix Artists Collective)

The Remix Artist Collective is a group of international members who create re-interpretative rock/electronica/dance remixes for musical artists. RAC strives to maintain a style of remixing that strays from the “club mix” archetype, creating new incarnations of songs that stem from the original structure, but expand on their genre and musical arrangement. RAC mixes typically feature a unique blend of hip-hop and vintage drum machine samples, analog synthesizers, melodic hooks, and original performed instrumentation by the remix artists themselves.

PIMPS OF JOYTIME

If you have yet to encounter the Brooklyn-based band, The Pimps of Joytime, prepare to take a funky ride! The PJT’s live events and recordings have captivated fans all across the country, as they have begun writing their own success story, show by show, and track by track. Bandleader Brian J is a charismatic and soulful visionary, whose well-crafted songs invite the listener to enter a world of infectious dance grooves and indelible melodies. Spending formative years in New York City, New Orleans and Los Angeles, Mista J honed his craft, becoming an accomplished live performer, multi-instrumentalist and producer.

SISTER SPARROW & THE DIRTY BIRDS

Sister Sparrow & the Dirty Birds is a nine-piece powerhouse that puts a modern spin on classic soul. The band is led by Arleigh Kincheloe (Sister Sparrow), whose astoundingly powerful voice and sly demeanor make for a spellbinding presence onstage. She is backed by the mighty force of The Dirty Birds, a flock of eight men who masterfully lay down thundering grooves and soaring melodies. Simply put, the band’s live show is explosive. Sister Sparrow & the Dirty Birds’ blend of seductive soul and dirty blues-rock remind audiences why they love live music.

BUSTLE IN YOUR HEDGEROW (Marco Benevento, Joe Russo, Dave Dreiwitz, and Scott Metzger)

Bustle in your Hedgerow – a lyric pulled from the Led Zeppelin epic “Stairway to Heaven”, puts on shows showcasing only Zep tunes. But don’t call them a tribute band. Joe Russo, Marco Benevento, Dave Dreiwitz, and Scott Metzger channel Led Zeppelin’s songs with such passion and energy, you would swear they are their own songs. Get ready to get Dazed and Confused!

THE MAIN SQUEEZE

The Main Squeeze is a raging funk experience born within the thriving live music scene of Bloomington, Indiana. Since coming together in late 2009 The Squeeze have managed to establish a unique sound and identity in a short period of time. Their first studio offering entitled “First Drops,” is a seven song EP released in early 2011 which showcases the broad range of styles and influences that each member brings to the table; from rock to jazz, funk to R&B, and hip-hop to electro.
