Master guitarist Eric Krasno has announced a new four-night, eight-show residency at New York’s iconic Blue Note Jazz Club, set to take place from May 16th through May 19th. The band will play two separately ticketed sets per night, one at 8:30 p.m. and one at 10:00 p.m.

The shows are billed as Eric Krasno & Friends featuring Nigel Hall, Louis Cato, and Chris Loftlin with special guests to be announced, though longtime fans will get more than enough excitement out of the announcement even without the addition of special guests. The quartet comprised of Krasno, Hall, Cato, and Loftlin is a throwback to an old project, Chapter 2, which rarely plays together these days.

However, they’ve played their fair share of memorable performances in the past. In 2009, Chapter 2 performed as part of the first-ever night of music at Brooklyn Bowl for the venue’s soft opening. They wouldn’t reconvene onstage until 2017, when they anchored a headlining, star-studded Eric Krasno & Friends set in that very same building as part of Brooklyn Comes Alive. That Brooklyn Comes Alive set featured a veritable all-star squad of special guests, from John Scofield to George Porter Jr. to Cyril Neville to Jennifer Hartswick to Maurice Brown to Snarky Puppy horns Mike “Maz” Maher and Chris Michetti and beyond. As Krasno mused while the guests accumulated onstage, “They told me that I could bring some friends, but they had no idea how many I’d actually bring!”

It’s safe to say that with this seasoned quartet on hand and the wealth of talented “Friends” always floating around NYC, this Eric Krasno & Friends Blue Note run is a can’t-miss event.
