Indie-rock heroes in Vampire Weekend have spent the last few days starting to tease out some hints about their next studio album, FOTB. The forthcoming album, which has yet to receive an official release date, will be the rock band’s first studio effort since the 2013 arrival of Modern Vampires of the City. The band’s frontman and primary songwriter, Ezra Koenig, will presumably have plenty to talk about when their first new album in five years arrives in the coming months. Interestingly enough however, Koenig recently spent a decent amount of time discussing his love for Twiddle during a newly published episode of his “Time Crisis” radio show.

For all the indie pop/rock fans out there who curiously glimpse over the fence at the at the jam scene every now and then, Twiddle is a four-piece jam/rock outfit originally from the Vermont area. We could spend hours discussing how fun the band’s performances can be and why you should totally get tickets to their upcoming Tumble Down Festival this July, but why waste your time when Mr. Koenig has already shared his love for the band during a portion of last Sunday’s broadcast.

Koenig made a point in bringing up the band and their song “Jamflowman” starting around 21-minutes into the episode.

“Are we finally going to talk about Twiddle?” Koenig can be heard asking co-host Jake Longstreth with a laugh. “There’s a song that Jake and I have been talking about for a long time,” he continued when introducing the song from Twiddle’s 2007 Natural Evolution of Consciousness LP. “Look, we gotta be delicate talking about this because we first heard about this song in the context of people being hard on it.”

The two go on to explain how they heard about the song from other friends, whose knowledge of the jam scene well exceeds their own. They also touch on how the online discussion boards within the scene can be a little confrontational, which should not come as a surprise considering the level of uber-fandom that exists within the realms of bands like Phish and the Grateful Dead.

Speaking of Twiddle, the band announced five new northeast tour dates for their 2019 concert calendar alongside Lespecial and Gatos Blancos on Tuesday morning, so they’ve also got that going for them, which is nice.
