Progtronic power trio lespecial and mallet master Mike Dillon have announced a new collaboration, Fackn’ A. The combo of Mike Dillon and lespecial has played various shows together around the country for years—most recently under Dillon’s Punkadelick moniker—but Fackn’ A will serve as a vessel for officially bringing their collaborative rhythmic prowess and musical precision to the masses.
“Introducing… Fackn’ A,” lespecial wrote in a statement posted to social media. “We’re teaming up with mallet madman Mike Dillon to bring you some serious Jazz Punk Vibes.” Following a recent recording session at Color Red in Colorado, a new description was bestowed upon the project: “It’s like Miles Davis took Bad Brains to Ghana.”
Along with the announcement, lespecial and Dillon shared the project’s first tour dates, which will take the band to small, off-the-beaten-path venues that embody the punk-rock ethos. After kicking things off on January 26th at Stone Church in Newmarket, NH, the quartet will head to Electric Haze in Worcester, MA on the 27th and Stowe Cider in Stowe, VT on the 28th. The group will also take it to “the high seas” on Jam Cruise 19 on February 6th–12th.
lespecial and Mike Dillon are taking a “see what happens” approach to the new project, although a representative from the band confirmed that studio recordings, more shows, and festival sets may all be on the table for Fackn’ A.
Tickets for the upcoming Fackn’ A shows are on sale now. View the announcement and a full list of tour dates below, and for more information and tickets, visit lespecial or Mike Dillon‘s website.
News of the new project comes on the heals of lespecial’s announcement of the Not So Quiet On The Western Front Tour 2023. The tour will pick up where Fackn’ A tour ends with Jam Cruise 19.
