Falling Water has released their first song since 2014, “When Will We Be Saved”, written while in quarantine in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic. The new single marks the first release from the classic rock band since their 2014 LP, The Dark Ages.

“‘When Will We Be Saved’ is a true quarantine song,” admits frontman, principle songwriter, and pianist, Mark Rechler in a press release. “My whole life is trying to keep up with my to-do list, get stuff done, complete tasks. I have often said out loud, ‘If we could only get a time out for a month to catch up on all these projects, everything would be fine.’ Well, like a bad Twilight Zone, that gift was granted. During the first two months of quarantine, I found myself riddled with anxiety, exhaustion, and much fear. And while I can’t say that I’ve won the war (I’m still drowning in projects and to-dos), I have definitely won a few battles. I committed to completing a bunch of songs I had been wanting to finish, I buckled down to learn new music software, I even cleaned my closet and my garage! But it all came to a crashing halt when I got a puppy—that’s a whole other story! So in conclusion, ‘When Will We Be Saved’ is more about isolation and finding your best self in that quiet, lonely world.”

While recording “When Will We Be Saved”, engineered and produced by Chris Fasulo, the band discovered new methods for collaboration in isolation using Zoom, which ultimately allowed the band to produce art in ways never thought possible.

Falling Water has pledged to donate a portion of proceeds raised in the single’s first month to the PLUS1 COVID-19 Relief Fund to support communities most at risk from the pandemic, benefiting organizations like Sweet Relief, MusiCares, Center for Disaster Philanthropy, World Central Kitchen, Partners In Health, Trans Lifeline and Backline. Additionally, Falling Water’s Mark Rechler is running a fundraising campaign for the Plus1 COVID-19 Relief Fund directly on his Facebook page, with donations already topping $5,000 at time of publication.
