Modeled after the Grateful Dead‘s famous September 24th, 1988 rainforest benefit concert at Madison Square Garden, the Garcia Family intends to bring together a star-studded cast of musicians to bring awareness to a delicate ecosystem.

According to FANS, the free webcast will raise donations and awareness in a push for the new administration of President Joe Biden to enact protections for Alaska’s Tongass National Forest. Located in Juneau, AL, Tongass National Forest is one of the most carbon-storing terrestrial ecosystems on Earth and in October 2020 was opened to logging by former President Donald Trump, an order which remains intact.

“We’re asking you to take action to reinstate the Roadless Rule on the Tongass National Forest and work with Congress to pass the Roadless Area Conservation Act,” organizers said in a statement. “Please spread awareness, sign the petition, and help out in any way that you can.”

In addition to the musical performances, the Rainforest Benefit Concert will feature on-air discussions from Trixie GarciaDave Matthews and The Wilderness Society, and the trio of Gary Lambert, Ebet Roberts, and Charlie Miller.
