Fleetwood Mac and RHINO have announced a pair of forthcoming celebratory box set reissues highlighting the early years of the famous rock band prior to the arrival of Stevie Nicks and Lindsey Buckingham in 1975.
FLEETWOOD MAC 1969-1974 will arrive on September 4th and will include an eight CD box set featuring remastered versions of all seven studio albums the band recorded over their first five years between 1969 and 1974 with their original/former members Peter Green, Jeremy Spencer, Danny Kirwan, Bob Welch, Bob Weston, Bob Brunning, and Dave Walker. The albums featured in the archive reissue will include Then Play On (1969), Kiln House (1970), Future Games (1971), Bare Trees (1972), Penguin (1973), Mystery to Me (1973), and Heroes Are Hard to Find (1974). The box set will also feature several bonus tracks along with an unreleased 1974 concert recorded just a few months before Buckingham and Nicks joined the band.
Additionally, the FLEETWOOD MAC 1973-1974 4LP vinyl box set will also arrive via RHINO on September 4th, and will include the unreleased 1974 live album along with Penguin, Mystery To Me, and Heroes Are Hard To Find on 140-gram vinyl and presented in replica sleeves in an effort to look like the original pressings. This release will also feature a blue-colored 7″ single of “Fore Your Love” on Side A and the previously unreleased “Good Things (Come To Those Who Wait)” on Side B.
The announcement of the forthcoming reissue on Thursday came just days prior to the death of Peter Green at age 73 on Saturday.
