On Tuesday night, British indie rockers Florence + The Machine stopped by The Late Late Show with James Corden to perform a tune off of the band’s recently released 2018 studio effort, High As Hope. While in the studio, frontwoman Florence Welch also sat down with Corden for a chat.

Joined by guitarist Robert Ackroyd, vocalist/keyboardist Hazel Mill, and pedal harp player Tom Monger, Florence Welch and her bandmates worked through “Patricia” off High As Hope. The track is a tribute to one of Welch’s musical heroes, Patti Smith. Co-produced by frontwoman and songwriter Florence Welsh and her friend Emily HaynieHigh As Hope features saxophonist extraordinaire Kamasi Washington, Jamie xx, Sampha, Tobias Jesso Jr., and Kelsey Lu.

For the interview segment, Welch joined Corden on his couch alongside actor Jamie Dornan, who is a self-proclaimed Florence + The Machine fan. Comically, Corden asked Dornan, “Have you ever seen them live?”, to which Dornan replied, “It was your first-ever headline of a festival, Latitude, in 2008, maybe.” He continued to explain, “Florence was unbelievable and then we all went to this tent there called the Guilty Pleasures Tent, where you go and get your dance on to stuff that isn’t maybe deemed that cool.”

After recently wrapping up the North American leg of their world tour in support of High As Hope, Florence + The Machine is gearing up to bring their encapsulating performances through the U.K., Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, Germany, Switzerland, Belgium, Sweden, Norway, Poland, Italy, Spain, France, and the Netherlands. For a full list of Florence + The Machine’s upcoming tour dates, head to their website.
