Foo Fighters are the latest group to cancel or postpone a tour because of the global COVID-19 pandemic, however they made the announcement uniquely there own with a cheerful tone.

The band was set to hit the road on their 25th anniversary Van Tour starting on April 12th, where Foo Fighters would travel around the country playing the same cities they performed in during their first-ever tour 1995, this time in much larger venues. Unfortunately, the recent outbreak of coronavirus and states across the country banning mass gatherings until at least the end of March has forced the band to reluctantly reschedule the first month of the tour, but that didn’t stop frontman Dave Grohl from having some fun.

In a personal message from Grohl, along with the rescheduled dates, Dave began, “Remember me? The guy who wouldn’t even postpone a show when my goddam leg was falling off?”

“Well… playing a gig with a sock full of broken bones is one thing,” Grohl continued. “But playing a show when YOUR health and safety is in jeopardy is another…”

Grohl went on to deliver the unfortunate news that the tour must be rescheduled, but he also made sure to mention, in fairly explicit and adamant terms, how much he and the rest of the band loves their fans and how difficult of an announcement this was to make. Grohl also gave fans reason to rejoice as he once-again reaffirmed that the band had completed a new album, and stated that “it’s fuckin’ killer.”  Finally, he left readers with the sage advice, “now go wash your hands.”

Along with the announcement came the dates for newly rescheduled gigs through the end of April, available below along with Grohl’s full statement. The May shows are still set to take place as previously announced. Head to Foo Fighters’ website for up-to-date information on the Van Tour.
