Stemming from the online group, NYC-Freaks, the 14th annual Freaks Ball looks to be fantastic. With one night of magical funk-jammery, the lineup includes Wolf! featuring Scott Metzger, Superhuman Happiness, and Stirrers, a new group featuring Eric Krasno and Neal Evans (of Soulive/Lettuce) and Joe Russo (Furthur).

The concert, which will be held at the Brooklyn Bowl on February 1st, is known for contributing to the initial success of some well-known artists, including Robert Randolph, Warren Haynes, Anders Osborne, and many, many more.

Superhuman Happiness is an indie-rock outfit, led by Antibalas and Iron & Wine member Stuart Bogie. Wolf! is a jazz/funk project led by Scott Metzger, who will also be performing with Russo in the Led Zeppelin tribute band, Bustle in Your Hedgerow, on February 6th and 7th at the Brooklyn Bowl.

Stirrers, the new ensemble, is comprised of Krasno, Evans, and Russo. The three musicians have shared the stage before, and will come together for this glorious, freaky event.

The fans will be in full force at Freaks Ball XIV, so let’s get freaky! Ow!

Update: Vocal powerhouse Alecia Chakour and saxophonist Cochemea Gastelum (Robert Walters 20th Congress) will both make appearances as special guests for the NYC Freaks Ball this Saturday night, February 1st.
