The Williams Center in Rutherford, NJ will host the first tri-state area public screening of Charlie Loves Our Band: The Story of From Good Homes on Friday, December 15th along with a live Q+A and “a long one set performance” by the film’s subjects, From Good Homes.

Produced by filmmaker, friend, and former tour manager Vic Guadagno, the award-winning feature documentary chronicles how childhood friends Todd Sheaffer (Railroad Earth, guitar, vocals, harmonica), Patrick Fitzsimmons (drums, vocals), and Brady Rymer (bass, vocals) came together to form From Good Homes in the 1980s in Sparta, NJ, a New York City suburb situated in rural Sussex County. Following the addition of Jamie Coan (guitar, mandolin, violin, vocals) and Dan Myers (saxophone, melodica, keyboards, vocals), the band generated a devoted following around the East Coast and Colorado with its unique blend of rock and folk influences, which fans dubbed “hick-pop.”

From Good Homes officially disbanded in 1999. Some of the band went on to form Railroad Earth while other members pursued solo projects. The group’s fanbase has continued to grow, however—especially in New Jersey—and the band’s annual reunion concerts consistently draw large crowds. From Good Homes released Time and the River, the band’s sixth studio album, in 2019.

The documentary was originally scheduled to premiere last year ahead of the band’s yearly show at the Fields at Waterloo in Hackettstown, NJ, but both were canceled. The group did reunite for a show earlier this year.

Tickets to the first public screening of Charlie Loves Our Band, The Story of From Good Homes are available here. FGH also announced a show at The Newton Theater on December 16th, the night after the screening, but that show is completely sold out, so this is the last opportunity to see the band this year.
