Recently, electronic music artist Aphex Twin emerged from an extended hiatus, parading his trademark logo throughout London, on the side of a blimp. The teaser only led to more intrigue, as Aphex Twin announced a new album, SYRO; his first official release in 13 years.
That album is now streaming in full via Bleep.com, leading up to its official release on September 23rd. According to an interview in Rolling Stone, Aphex Twin said that the tracks were recorded in “five and a half” different studios. He also said that the work constitutes about a fifth of his work over the last ten years, and that his main impetus for releasing the record was to “concentrate on new stuff.”
Ultimately, Aphex called the process of recording an album “a real ball-ache.”
