Back on February 23rd, 2020, Garcia Peoples stepped into the Relix studios to record a live performance which aired live via Twitch. The band’s studio set has now been released as The Relix Sessions live album and is now available to purchase/stream on Garcia Peoples’ Bandcamp.

The seven-song, hour-long livestream saw the ever-rising Brooklyn psych-jam outfit explore its growing catalog of original material. Following the release of the band’s latest album, 2020’s Nightcap at Wits’ End, the sextet opened the Relix performance with the album’s lead track, “Gliding Through”. As the song’s title suggests, Garcia Peoples used the momentum of the opening track to coast through the rest of the performance.

With Garcia Peoples slowly making a name for themselves in the live music and alt-jam scene, the band also displayed its versatility with “Wasted Time”. Appearing in the two-slot of the session, the song puts the group’s more conventional songwriting style on display, along with the group’s vocal capabilities. The entirety of The Relix Sessions finds Garica Peoples toggling between the various influences that could make them just as appealing to a member of the alt-indie underground scene as well as a jam band fan.

The session ultimately came to a head with a sprawling rendition of “One Step Behind”. The title track to the band’s 2019 album, the studio rendition of “One Step Behind” itself covers one entire side of the LP. In the Relix studio, Garcia Peoples are able to take the song out even further and leave little doubt of their well-deserved place in the next generation of jam artists.
