New York’s newest night spot, Marquee New York, is trying very quickly establishing themselves as one of the premiere spots to catch electronic dance music in the city. The evidence? They’ve just booked Mr. Billboard himself, David Guetta for next Wednesday, February 6th, in addition to global superstar Gareth Emery this coming Saturday, February 2nd. It’s going to be a good week for dance music.
David Guetta was last in New York City for a monstrous stop on his ‘Fuck Me, I’m Famous’ tour, which saw him transform Roseland Ballroom into his personal wonderland. This more intimate show at Marquee will be a change of pace, letting fans get a little closer to the man who almost single-handedly brought EDM into the mainstream with a string of cross-over hits. You can expect nothing but the best from Guetta, who will be sure to mix in his plethora of smash hits – ‘Memories’, ‘Sexy Bitch’, ‘Getting Over You’, ‘When Love Takes Over’ – which exclusive bootlegs and club bangers. Whatever your opinion on Guetta is, the man knows how to throw a party.
Gareth Emery is no stranger to New York City, mixing club nights at venues like Lavo and Pacha with a monstrous and memorable show on Governor’s Island last summer. His label, Garuda, is home to several up and coming artists that he mentors, in addition to releasing most of Gareth’s recent hits. His 2010 album Northern Lights included the anthemic ‘Sanctuary’ which is still a fixture in many DJ’s sets. While his tracks have been picked up by many of today’s biggest trance DJs, his live sets tend to stray more towards the progressive party sets, creating a mash up of music that instigates non-stop partying.
As we have mentioned, Marquee is tailor-made for dance music – with a huge open dance floor, tons of LED lights and visual entertainment, and most importantly, advanced ticket sales, allowing everyone who wants to dance a chance at the music. Tickets will be available soon on Marquee’s official website, which invites you to give them your e-mail address so they can send you pre-sale information directly.
