Following the disappointing news that Gathering of the Vibes, one of the longest running music festivals in the country, would not take place in 2016, hopes were held in check for a pending return in 2017. According to founder Ken Hays, that will be taking this year off as well. Hays released a statement earlier today, via the GotV Facebook page:

“As you know, the music festival landscape is rapidly evolving,” the statement read. “And with that evolution comes greater competition that is far more challenging for smaller, independent festivals like the Vibes. It is with this in mind that I have made the difficult decision to not move forward with Vibes in 2017.”

Hays did not elaborate on whether or not the festival might return in 2018, but taking two years off is, unfortunately, never a good sign. However, in staying with that community spirit, Hays and company will be working with various family-friendly festivals in extending discounted tickets to the VibeTribe and extended family.
