Genesis has postponed the remaining four dates of its ongoing reunion tour due to multiple positive COVID-19 tests within the band. Postponed dates include tonight, October 8th, in Glasgow and next week’s three scheduled shows at the O2 Arena in London (October 11th, 12th, and 13th).
As a representative for the band noted in a statement, “Following guidance and advice from the Government, it is with huge regret that the final four shows of Genesis’ Last Domino? Tour … have had to be postponed due to positive COVID 19 tests within the band. … We are working to reschedule them as soon as possible and will announce the new dates through our website (www.genesis-music.com) and social media channels as soon as possible. All tickets will remain valid and ticket holders will be contacted by their ticket providers.”
The statement continued, “This is a hugely frustrating development for the band who are devastated with this unlucky turn of events. They hate having to take these steps but the safety of the audience and touring crew has to take priority. They look forward to seeing you upon their return.”
Genesis had made headlines just before the onset of the pandemic in March of 2020 with the announcement of the reunion trek, the band’s first tour in more than a decade, featuring founding members Tony Banks and Mike Rutherford, along with Phil Collins, longtime touring guitarist/bassist Daryl Stuermer, and Collins’ son, Nic.
The initial European run was canceled as the coronavirus spread. In January, the band announced rescheduled 2021 dates for the European tour as the pandemic picture began pointing to some semblance of normalcy later in the year. A late-2021 North American tour was tacked on in late April. As of now, the band’s North American tour, set to begin on November 15th in Chicago, is still scheduled to take place as planned.
