Rich MahanJesse Jarnow, and the team behind the Good Ol’ Grateful Deadcast have announced the return of the audio docuseries for its third season, which will explore the music featured on the forthcoming 50th-anniversary reissue of the Grateful Dead‘s 1971 self-titled live album (commonly referred to as Skull & Roses).

Season three officially launched on Thursday with the first of five episodes which will break down the popular live album, featuring thoroughly-researched host commentary from Mahan and Jarnow who will be joined by guests ranging from David Crosby, audio engineer Bob Matthews, former Dead tour manager Sam Cutler, David Nelson (New Riders of the Purple Sage), Grateful Dead archivist and legacy manager David Lemieux, and music journalist/Deadhead Gary Lambert.

Good Ol’ Grateful Deadcast – Season 3, Episode 1

The podcast series launched last year to celebrate RHINO‘s 50th-anniversary reissues of Workingman’s Dead and American Beauty. The series returned earlier this month for a special one-off episode on April Fool’s Day which examined the infamous Fillmore Acid Test back January 8th, 1966, which also happened to be the first known audio recording of a Grateful Dead performance.
