Goose set up camp at The Pines Music Park in Eau Claire, WI over the weekend for a two-night run of Independence Day shows on Friday and Saturday. The shows marked Goose’s first time back onstage since the band’s double-header at Legend Valley in Thornville, OH last month.

As Goose took the stage on Friday, both the band and the audience settled in for a long weekend. With onsite camping offered for the run, fans made themselves at home as Goose ran through a first set full of favorites including the opening (and somewhat ironic) “Time To Flee” followed by “Doc Brown”, “Butter Rum”, and a one-two punch of “Jive II” into “Jive Lee” to close the first set.

Coming back out for set two, it was time to kick out the jams with the opening “Slow Ready” into “Drive”. Things took a delightfully campy turn with a segue into “Can’t Get You Outta My Head” by Kylie Minogue—featuring retro voice modulation work from Rick Mitarotonda—and a bilingual “Mas Que Nada” by Sergio Mendes & Brasil ’66. The encore-less show then ended with “Tumble” to wrap a bow on the first of two nights.

Returning for the second and final concert, Goose opened up with “Honeybee” and moved through coveted originals like “Bob Don”, “Turned Clouds”, “Indian River”, and a cover of Bruce Hornsby & The Range‘s “That’s The Way It Is” before closing the first frame with “Yeti”. For the second set, the band opened with an eerie “Creatures” which segued into Otis Day & The Knights‘ “Shama Lamma Ding Dong” to dispel any of that spooky energy. After “Rosewood Heart” segued into “Spirit Of The Dark Horse”, Goose closed out with “This Old Sea”. The band was sure to leave enough time for an encore on Saturday, finishing out the weekend strong with “Hot Tea”.
