Following a run of sold-out tour dates earlier this month, Goose has shared the ten-minute studio version of “Madhuvan” set to appear on the band’s forthcoming album, Shenanigans Nite Club, out Friday, June 4th.

A staple of the band’s live shows, “Madhuvan” often spans twice the length of the studio cut, serving as a launchpad for improvisation and creative segues. Though the studio “Madhuvan” offers a shorter version of the musical odyssey, the band still manages to imbue the track with the same journeying aesthetic, deep grooves, and tension-and-release fireworks that has made it a fan-favorite.

The song’s title references the story of Dhurva and his quest for enlightenment, originally written in the Bhagavata Purana, a sacred Hindu text. “The underlying idea is questioning what you’re pursuing and that, ultimately, true fulfillment often comes from something other than outer acquisition,” says guitarist/vocalist Rick Mitarotonda.

Goose – “Madhuvan”

Shenanigans Nite Club is Goose’s second studio LP and first full-length collection in more than five years. The album was announced in March along with the release of its first song, “Spirit of the Dark Horse“, and arrives everywhere on Friday, June 4. Pre-orders are available now. Last month, the band released the album’s second single, “So Ready”, and a retro, animated video to accompany the track’s funky, disco-inflected aesthetic. Check out the video for “So Ready” here.

Goose will head back out on tour early next month for another run of socially distant concerts including a performance in Swanzey, NH (6/11), two sold-out nights at New Haven, CT’s Westville Music Bowl (6/12, 6/13), two drive-in concerts in Perry, NY (6/15, 6/16), a run of shows at Thornville, OH’s Legend Valley (6/18, 6/19), and much more.
