Goose traveled to Michigan’s Royal Oak Music Theatre just outside Detroit for a Wednesday night concert. The evening saw the ever-rising Norwalk, CT quintet deliver a jam-heavy show including a 37-minute “Rosewood Heart”.
The show began with the gentle welcome of “Borne”, a single from the band’s upcoming third album, Dripfield. Goose dug in deep early on, quickly diving into a groove that stretched the song past the 20-minute mark. The band kept the mood down low with “SOS”, which also developed into spacey improvisation led by Peter Anspach‘s keyboard work.

After nearly 40 minutes of music in just two songs, fans and band alike were able to catch their breath with “Life On The Shelf”. Anspach’s reflections as a child of divorce then wound their way into “Rosewood Heart”. A musical centerpiece of the evening, the expansive improvisation contained “Echo of a Rose” teases as the band continuously built the jam through a multitude of moods. After every possible sonic avenue was explored, Goose wrapped set one with Great Blue‘s “Jeff Engborg”.
Returning for set two, Goose had plenty more in store as the band would ultimately deliver a four-song set. The frame saw back-to-back 20-minute tellings of “726” followed by “Madhuvan” before the soft rock of Jackson Browne‘s “Doctor My Eyes” cleansed the room once again. Finally, set two closed out with Trevor Weekz‘s bass thump of “Yeti”. Taking the stage once more, Goose served up some “Butter Rum” to send the crowd home.
