Today, the steady stream of singles off of Gorillaz upcoming album Humanz continues with the release of album bonus track “The Apprentice,” an echo-synth groove featuring vocals from British cult favorite singers Rag’n’Bone Man and RAY BLK as well as a rap verse from American queer hip-hop forerunner Zebra Katz. After an extended hiatus, Gorillaz have returned to the public consciousness with a bang over the past few weeks. After announcing their own Demon Dayz festival in the U.K. (set to feature all the artists included on their upcoming album Humanz), the Damon Albarn and Jamie Hewlett-masterminded animated group released four new top-notch tracks from the new album, complete with animated visuals, followed by another single release for “Let Me Out” featuring Mavis Staples and Pusha-T. Next, the group sent shockwaves through social media when they were announced as a headliner for this summer’s Outside Lands alongside The Who and Metallica, and built on that buzz with the announcement of a full-blown North American tour.

Always thinking outside the box, the cartoon crew released their own mixed reality app for fans to get a glimpse inside the weird and wonderful universe of the Gorillaz with the “world’s largest album release party,” and a pop-up exhibit, the “Gorillaz Spirit House” in Brooklyn, NY (this past weekend), Berlin, Germany (next weekend), and Amsterdam, Netherlands on May 6th.

Humanz is due to be released in full this Friday, April 28th. You can see the album’s full track list below.
