The 12th Annual Billboard Touring Awards were held on Thursday night, Nov. 19 at New York City’s Roosevelt Hotel. The Touring Awards honor the top achievements in the industry, and, naturally, The Grateful Dead won Top Boxscore for their Chicago Fare Thee Well performances.

Grateful Dead’s Fare Thee Well Concerts Rake In Over $50 Million, Set PPV Record

With members of the Grateful Dead currently on the road, Peter Shapiro, the man who organized the legendary reunion tour, accepted the award on their behalf by singing a few lines from “Casey Jones”. Jokingly, he quipped “What lyrics come next?” before telling a story about his experience in filming a documentary about the Grateful Dead and their fans, and how difficult it was to connect to the band’s members for interviews. The answer was to “put on the show myself.”

Well, we’re really glad you did that, Pete.

Other winners include, Coachella, Live Nation, One Direction, Bob Seger, Kenny Chesney and more.
