Greensky Bluegrass continued its tour with special guests The Infamous Stringdusters on Tuesday night, hosting a performance at The Agora Theatre in Cleveland, OH. The tour comes in support of Greensky’s recent album, Stress Dreams, which arrived on January 21st.
Following an opening performance from The Infamous Stringdusters which saw them deliver a ten-song set (including a take on “Black Rock” which included teases of Phish‘s “First Tube”), Greensky took the stage and offered a variety of songs new and old. Members Dave Bruzza (guitar), Paul Hoffman (mandolin), Michael Bont (banjo), Anders Beck (dobro), and Mike Devol (bass) dipped as far back as 2006’s Tuesday Letter early on in the evening, providing the title track and “Runnin’ The Briars” for the Cleveland faithful. The first set also included Stress Dreams songs like “Cut a Tooth” and “Streetlight”, the latter of which appeared in a “Courage for the Road” sandwich.
After a set break, Greensky returned to the stage and worked through tellings of “Just to Lie” and “Train Junkie” before another Stress Dreams cut, “New & Improved”. “Miss September” sat between another pull from the latest album, “Give a Shit”, which featured The Infamous Stringdusters’ Andy Falco and set up a tune from 2011’s Handguns, “All Four”. Falco would remain on stage for “All Four” and the rest of the second frame, which ended with two If Sorrows Swim tracks, “Wings for Wheels”, and “Kerosene”. A one-song encore then ensued sans Falco, where GSBG offered up its final Stress Dreams track of the night, “Until I Sing”.
