Greensky Bluegrass continued their extensive fall tour on Wednesday night with a sold-out, debut performance at The Caverns in Pelham, TN. The jamgrass outfit treated those in attendance inside the nature-designed music venue to their debut covers of a Phish original, in addition to a tribute to late Grateful Dead lyricist Robert Hunter, who died earlier this week.

The band opened the first of their two sets on Wednesday with their take on Steppin’ In It‘s “Dustbowl Overtures” followed by their tropical-sounding original in “Radio Blues”. The set continued with their debut cover of “Brokedown Palace” as a nod to Robert Hunter’s lifelong contributions to the modern jam scene. “Living Over” came next, followed by “Do It Alone” and a cover of Charlie Poole‘s “Whitehouse Blues”. Following performances of “In Control” and “All For Money”, the band set fans into set break with a two-song combination of “Casual Wednesday” into a fitting debut cover of Phish’s “Cavern” from the band’s 1992 A Picture Of Nectar.

The band returned to open the second half of their performance with a pair of tunes from 2019’s All For Money in “Wish I Didn’t Know” right into “Not Mine Anymore”. Another two-song combination followed with another Steppin’ In It cover of ” The Ghost Of Richard Manuel” followed by The Band‘s “The Shape I’m In”.

Greensky then welcomed their first guest of the evening in banjo player Kyle Tuttle, who sat in to play on a trio of tunes starting with “I’d Probably Kill You” and continuing with “Worried About The Weather” and a cover of Bill Monroe & Blue Grass Boys‘ “Cryin Holy Unto My Lord”. Tuttle then left the stage for the band to close the show with their take on Earl Scruggs‘ “Foggy Mountain Breakdown”.

The band returned for a one-song encore with Tuttle and mandolinist Mimi Naja to close the show with one final cover with Bob Dylan‘s “You Ain’t Goin’ Nowhere”.
