The Gunn-Truscinski Duo–the experimental indie-rock project comprised of guitarist Steve Gunn and drummer John Truscinski–have announced their fourth full-length studio album, Soundkeeper, due out October 9th via Three Lobed Recordings. The 12-track studio project will be the duo’s first-ever double album, and will arrive on two 140 gram 12″ vinyl cased in a full-color gatefold jacket featuring photography from Truscinski, Gunn, and multimedia artist Michael Slaboch.

The forthcoming album is part of the Three Lobed Recordings’ 20th-anniversary series and will feature OBI strip of an essay about the album as penned by Aquarium Drunkard‘s Tyler Wilcox. All 12 songs on the album were recorded between 2018 and early 2020 in Brooklyn’s Echo Canyon studios and Western Massachusetts’ SonelabSoundkeeper will also feature a pair of live recordings captured at Brooklyn’s Union Pool in “Pyramid Merchandise” and “Soundkeeper”.

The album’s announcement on Thursday also came with the arrival of the album’s lead single, “Valley Spiral”, a rugged instrumental that showcases Gunn’s trademark melody-driven playing as kept afloat and directed by Truscinski’s rhythm patterns.
