HeadCount is teaming up with Dave Matthews to promote its tool to check people’s voter registration status, ‘VOTE READY‘, in the lead-up to the November 2020 election. Anyone who checks their status on new HeadCount platform ‘VOTE READY’ will be entered into a drawing to win a chat with Dave Matthews.

Dave will select one lucky fan who checked their voter registration status for a personal video chat. Anyone who is not currently registered to vote is also pointed to their state election website or a printable form to get registered. ‘VOTE READY’ was created by HeadCount in conjunction with technology firm Phone2Action.

For 16 years, HeadCount has been registering voters on-the-ground at festivals and concerts. Then, in the way of COVID-19 restrictions, the organization quickly pivoted to an all-digital approach that led to innovation and filling new needs for the public. This included the release of a ‘VOTE FROM HOME’ information hub, sharing new election dates, and guidelines on how to vote by mail in each state. Then, as protesters took to the streets in June, HeadCount launched the ‘UNITED WE VOTE’ initiative, allowing anyone to register voters at public events using QR codes. A third digital initiative, ‘VOTE WITH PRIDE’, was launched to help members of the LGBTQ+ community use their voice in democracy.

The organization expects to register at least 200,000 voters for the 2020 election and have direct contact with over one million Americans in a massive get-out-the-vote effort. For more information please visit HeadCount.org.
