HeadCount, the nonprofit that encourages music lovers to participate in democracy, has just unveiled their special collaboration with ReverbDead and Company, and D’Angelico with the release of the designs of five limited-edition guitars. The effort is a continuation of the non-profit’s tradition of auctioning off special guitars, which has raised over $750,000 for a number of different charities over the years. It also continues Dead & Co’s charity efforts last year, when fans took over 20,000 separate charitable actions and raised over $165,000 dollars through charity and guitar auctions.

HeadCount Co-Founders Marc Brownstein & Andy Bernstein Discuss Effecting Change, One Show At A Time

The five guitars are set to be auctioned off at various stops during Dead & Co’s summer tour. Each guitar is a customized Premier Weir SS D’Angelico guitar, which was released this year for retail. These guitars made waves during Fare The Well, when Bob Weir played the model on stage for the shows, which was later auctioned off for $526,000. For this summer’s tour, each of the hand-painted one-of-a-kind D’Angelico guitars feature Grateful Dead– and venue-themed artwork—specifically, a partial Steal Your Face along with a silhouette of one of the iconic venues the group will stop at this summer. In addition to the individual depictions of ShorelineFolsom FieldFenway Park, and Wrigley Field, one guitar features imagery to represent the other hits during Dead & Co’s tour this summer.

Dead & Company Share Pro-Shot “Terrapin Station” From Shoreline Tour Closer

Each guitar will be signed by all of the members of Dead & Co before hitting the auction block. The guitars will then be auctioned off in benefit of non-profits featured at HeadCount’s Participation Row at certain shows—Participation Row features Dead & Co-endorsed non-profits such as HeadCount, Jerry Garcia Foundation, Rex Foundation, The Owsley Stanley Foundation, Conscious Alliance, and a number of other charities handpicked by the band to create a “Shakedown Street for doing good.” The project was organized by HeadCount and Reverb and underwritten by the green-energy investment firm, Clean Energy Advisors. Fans who might not have the funds to purchase one of these special models during the auction need not fear; like last year, HeadCount is giving away one signed guitar for free as well as a number of special-edition pins to lucky fans who get involved with the non-profits on Participation Row.
