The Headcount Festival Challenge will not only serve as a contest for attendees/voters, but also as a competition between the festivals themselves. Organizers at Electric Forest came to HeadCount executive director Andy Bernstein with the idea of a contest between festivals to see who could register the most people to vote.

Using their social media platforms and email lists, music festivals from all over the country will direct users to specially-created websites. Once there, fans can check their registration, update their information, or register to vote altogether and by doing so, enter to win two free tickets to next year’s gathering.

“HeadCount has registered tens of thousands of voters at festivals,” Bernstein said. “While we can’t be there in person this year, we can still register just as many voters online, if not more. We’re grateful to all the festival promoters for getting behind this effort, and especially to the team at Electric Forest, who came to us with the idea.”

Electric Forest is co-owned by AEG Live and Live Nation Entertainment, who have also gotten some of their other festivals involved. Production company Danny Wimmer Presents has also gotten in on the action, as well as notable independent festivals including Summer Camp Music FestivalHigh Sierra Music Festival, and Life Is Beautiful Music & Art Festival.

Other participating festivals include BUKU Music + Art Project, Camp Bisco, Firefly, The Governors Ball, Hangout, The Hog Farm Hangout, Mempho Fest, Okeechobee, Outside Lands, Something In The Water, and Stagecoach. Cloud 9 Adventures, the producer of several destination events, is also participating.
