Hollywood Bowl has announced its schedule of concerts for the 2021 summer season.
The famous bandshell’s entire 2020 season was canceled in May of last year as the pandemic continued to spread, marking the first time in the past 100 summers that shows at the Hollywood Hills venue had ever ceased for more than two weeks.
Hollywood Bowl is the longtime summer home of the L.A. Philharmonic, which also manages the venue. The L.A. Phil will be well-represented on the 2021 lineup, with a variety of performances scheduled including free concerts for frontline and essential workers as well as two shows with Grammy and Academy Award winner H.E.R. (8/13, 8/14).
Other notable artists set to take the stage at the Hollywood Bowl this summer include P!nk (5/17), Thundercat and Flying Lotus (6/12), a pair of July 4th Fireworks Spectacular events with Kool & the Gang (7/3, 7/4), Christina Aguilera (7/16, 7/17), Kamasi Washington and Earl Sweatshirt (7/18), Ledisi sings Nina Simone (7/24), Reggae Night XIX with Ziggy Marley and Wailing Souls (8/1), Dave Koz & Friends Summer Horns with Tower of Power (8/8), Marvel’s Black Panther in Concert (9/10, 9//11, 9/12), Yo-Yo Ma (9/14), Brittany Howard with Jamila Woods and Georgia Ann Muldrow (9/18), James Blake (9/25), Herbie Hancock (9/26), Daryl Hall & John Oates (10/1), Alanis Morissette (10/5), Andrea Bocelli (10/24) and more.
Following the health guidelines set forth by the County of Los Angeles, the LA Phil’s Hollywood Bowl 2021 season (July 3–September 28) will see roughly 85% of tickets for all shows set aside for people who are vaccinated. Two sections per night will be reserved for non-vaccinated audience members with proof of a negative COVID-19 test prior to attendance. Mask wearing will be required for all attendees. The Hollywood Bowl will continue to receive public health guidelines from Los Angeles County and as policies evolve over the summer.
