Hollywood Bowl has revealed its lineup of concerts for its centennial season in 2022. The latest season at the famed Hollywood Hills band shell features a wide array of world-renowned performers from a variety of musical disciplines.

Hollywood Bowl is the longtime summer home of the Los Angeles Philharmonic, which also manages the venue. Musical director Gustavo Dudamel and the LA Phil are well-represented on the 2022 calendar with ten Evening Under The Stars engagements.

A number of long-running Hollywood Bowl traditions will return for the venue’s 100th year including the July 4th Fireworks Spectacular featuring Steve Martin and Martin Short, Steep Canyon Rangers, and Jeff Babko with the L.A. Phil (7/2, 7/3, 7/4). The Tchaikovsky Spectacular (8/12, 8/13) will see acclaimed violinist Joshua Bell and the USC Trojan Marching Band joining conductor Bramwell Tovey and the LA Phil for the Tchaikovsky Violin Concerto, 1812 Overture, and fireworks. The annual fully staged Broadway musical will be Cyndi Lauper and Harvey Fierstein‘s six-time Tony Award-winning Kinky Boots. The Bowl’s production will feature an all-star cast, to be announced, and will be directed and choreographed by Tony-winning choreographer Jerry Mitchell (7/8, 7/9, 7/10).

Film presentations with live accompaniment by the LA Phil and Hollywood Bowl Orchestra will include screenings of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1 (6/30); Back to the Future (8/5, 8/6, 8/7); and Amadeus (8/23). Three nights of Maestro of the Movies: Celebrating John Williams at 90 (9/2, 9/3, 9/4) will welcome John Williams and David Newman to conduct the LA Phil. Black Movie Soundtrack is also set to return for its fourth edition with bassist Marcus Miller leading a house band in the best music from the history of Black cinema, with Craig Robinson as host and the Hollywood Bowl Orchestra conducted by Thomas Wilkins (8/24).

As part of the KCRW Festival series, Hollywood Bowl will partner with the LA Phil to throw an array of genre-spanning concerts including shows by Polo & Pan and Parcels (8/7); Nathaniel Rateliff & The Night Sweats and Durand Jones & The Indications with Celisse (8/14); Flying Lotus and Hiatus Kaiyote with the Hollywood Bowl Orchestra (8/21); Grace Jones and CHVRCHES (9/25); and a reggae night featuring UB40 and The Original Wailers.

The Hollywood Bowl Jazz Festival featuring The RootsTower of Power, Gregory Porter, Cory WongFantastic Negrito, Femi Kuti & The Positive Force, Christian Scott aTunde Adjuah, and more (6/25, 6/26) will kick off the 2022 Jazz at the Bowl series. Other shows set to take place as part of the series include a Tribute to Peggy Lee and Frank Sinatra featuring Billie Eilish, Debbie Harry, and more (7/27); Sheryl Crow and Keb’ Mo‘ (8/3); and Trombone Shorty’s Voodoo Threauxdown featuring Tank and the BangasBig FreediaCyril NevilleGeorge Porter Jr., and more (8/24).

Four additional jazz presentations are scheduled for September: Wynton Marsalis will lead the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra (9/7; Pink Martini will return to Hollywood (9/14); Chucho Valdés and guests will appear in an evening of Latin jazz, including a performance of Valdés’ La Creación (The Creation), an LA Phil co-commission (9/21). Herbie Hancock, the LA Phil’s Creative Chair for Jazz, will perform the final jazz concert of the celebratory 100th season on September 28th.

Other highlights of the 2022 Hollywood Bowl concert schedule include Boyz II Men and TLC (7/29); The Gipsy Kings featuring Nicolas Reyes (8/19, 8/20); Isata Kanneh-Mason (8/25); Diana Ross (8/26, 8/27); Duran Duran (9/9, 9/10, 9/11); Lang Lang (9/15); Pentatonix (9/29); and more.

The famous bandshell returned to action with a scaled-back schedule in 2021 following the cancellation of its entire 2020 season, which marked the first time in the past 100 summers that shows had ever ceased for more than two weeks on the hallowed Hollywood Hills stage.
