As the weather gets warmer and live performances begin to trickle back in New York, Sunset Park, Brooklyn’s Industry City has announced the return of its outdoor summer concert series produced in partnership with Hometown Bar-B-Que. Similar to the successful outdoor music series hosted last summer and fall at its sister restaurant in Red Hook, Hometown Bar-B-Que will curate a lineup of Americana, New Orleans funk, and jam bands to perform at the Industry City Band Shell in the spring and summer of 2021.

The events, featuring full concert sound and lighting, will take place on Saturday and Sunday afternoons, with anticipated Friday evening programming beginning in June. Upcoming events on the schedule for this year’s fifth season of live music at Industry City include Dead On Live (5/8), Early Elton Trio (5/16), and Bill Frisell (5/23), with additional concerts set to be announced.

In accordance with all COVID-19 health protocols, concertgoers will be seated at socially distanced tables in parties of 2, 4, or 6 people. While all tables are distanced, the intimacy provided at Industry City’s Band Shell allows guests to enjoy a special experience with bands that would ordinarily play at larger venues.

“Industry City’s open-air courtyards have been a haven throughout Covid 19 for New Yorkers to shop and eat locally while enjoying the safety of the outdoors,” says Cristal Rivera, Chief of Staff and Director of Community Engagement at Industry City, in a press release. “We are excited to bring people back for our live music series, giving them the opportunity to have a little bit of joy after a hard year. We are grateful to offer this in partnership with our tenant, Hometown Bar-B-Que, who can offer a delicious and iconic Brooklyn experience right here at Industry City.”

“Hometown Bar-B-Que is thrilled to be working with Industry City to bring live shows back to the Sunset Park campus,” says Mitchell Rosen, Managing Partner of Hometown Bar-B-Que. “One of the most rewarding things we did in 2020 was to bring an outdoor music vibe to the neighborhood at our Red Hook location. We were delighted when Industry City invited us to bring that same excitement, as well as our BBQ, to the Band Shell in Courtyard 1/2.  We will have many of our favorites musicians from Red Hook as well as new acts take the big stage, allowing attendees to experience a full concert sound experience as well as Hometown’s BBQ and everything else that the incredible complex at Industry City has to offer.”
