Indie-rockers Hounds have taken viewers into a new plane of consciousness with the video for their song “Three Hits of Acid”. Released last week, the video follows the previously-released single “Shake Me Up” from the St. Louis-based outfit’s forthcoming album, Cattle In The Sky, due out on February 5th.

The video for “Three Hits of Acid” delivers exactly what it promises as it explores the expanded state of awareness brought on by LSD. The use of drugs isn’t just schtick here, either. This isn’t just a gratuitous use of drugs as the focus of the art like so many Wolf of Wall Street or Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas posters found in dorm rooms across the country.

Rather, frontman Jordan Slone said in a press release that while the song is an autobiographical tale of drug exploration in adolescence, it also came at a formative time for him as he was experiencing his first break up. It was through this adventure with mind-altering substances that Slone learned to navigate the ups and downs of life on alternate pathways.

Due out on February 5th, Cattle In The Sky comes as Hounds’ most recent album following their win at TopGolf‘s 2019 “Who Will Rock You?” band contest. That win helped propel the band with praise from notable music industry figures like Matt Pinfield and Dee Snider (Twisted Sister), as well as score an artist development and record deal with major label BMG.

Hounds are slated to air a special performance via Bandsintown‘s Twitch channel on January 26th at 4 p.m. ET. Click here to view the free broadcast.
