Despite having been off the road for much of November, Billy Strings made ample use of Thanksgiving weekend with a string of releases and a high-profile TV appearance in support of his latest album, Highway Prayers.
In addition to continuing his “Andy’s Apples” series of full-show live videos from 2024, the bluegrass superstar gave fans something to smoke about ahead of Thanksgiving dinner with the release of the official music video for stoner anthem “MORBUD4ME”, which samples the sounds of a lighter, a bong, and more alongside gospel-style vocal harmony.
A recent GQ feature on Billy Strings and Highway Prayers explained that the song began as a joke but was guided to fruition by the album’s decorated producer, Jon Brion. “I personally felt it was an instant classic,” Brion noted in the piece.
Later on Thanksgiving night, Billy Strings and his band appeared on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon to perform “Seven Weeks In County” for a national TV audience.
