Gangsta rap progenitor Ice Cube is going from Straight Outta Compton, straight into the lead role of A Christmas Carol reboot. Cube will take the role of “a wealthy real estate mogul shown a path to redemption by the ghosts of Christmas Past, Present and Future,” and the film will be called Humbug, according to Deadline.

Ice Cube will again be working with Director Tim Story, who he paired with on past films including Barbershop and Along. Casting Cube, who is well known for his cranky persona, as one of literature’s most famous cranks, Ebenezer Scrooge is inspired to say the least.  With a resurgence in popularity from a string of recent roles, Ice Cube is sure to bring his star power to the oft remade role.  There’s no word on a release date as of yet, but a Christmas time release in 2016 seems like a safe bet.

If the film doesn’t feature scene with Cube trying to shoot down a gold-chain-dragging Jacob Marley, and calling Cratchit a “punk ass bitch,” we will be sorely disappointed. “God bless us, every mutherfucking one!”
